Don't just take our word for it!

Testimonials from children, parents, teachers, principals

Age appropriate instruction

I was brainstorming new activities for my all girls (6-12 yrs) summer camp this year so I asked Vesta entertainment to come teach some skills at camp! What a great decision. Through incredible performances and hands-on teaching, Vesta entertainment had the campers excited to learn and move out of their comfort zone! They were age-appropriate, engaging and full of energy; a pleasure to work with. The amount of positive feedback from the parents and campers made it clear that “Circus Day” was one of the most memorable days at camp this year. Looking forward for more fun and exciting days next summer. Thanks a lot guys! -- Natasha Devito, Programming Co-ordinator, Nanaimo Parks and Recreation

Leadership and Mentorship

Thank you! It's been so great having you on the Mentorship team. Your experience and skills have been invaluable. I hope you continue to do amazing things in schools and do even more work with ArtStarts! -- Elfred Manning, ArtStarts

Responsive & Interactive

“Thanks so much for your performance and workshops yesterday. It was so professional and at the same time very accessible to my students. Your colleagues were fantastic with the students. We all loved Vesta's show! The idea of a whole school show coupled with workshops is excellent.” — Roger Duval, Central Middle School

Relationship Building

"The Vesta Circus performers came to our school in early June 2014. They started off our morning with a bang! Both staff and students were amazed at the quality of this performance and there were many whispers of ‘How did they do that?’ We enjoyed the humour and skill of all the performers (although I must admit I hid my eyes a few times when he was juggling with knives!) They were able to engage all students from Kindergarten to grade 7. The stunning LED and fiber optic effects had the students in awe and they continue to practice their own hula hoop skills at recess times. This was a thoroughly enjoyable performance!" — Shona Sneddon, Vice Principal, Coal Tyee School

Making a difference

"Thanks so much for your dedication, caring and hard work. Thanks, too, for sharing who you are. You have been a great role model. You were always flexible, and you really made a difference. - Louise (grade 6/7 sponsor teacher, PBED Practicum)

Entertaining and Fun

"VestaFire provided perfect entertainment for our school’s Family Fun Night. Children and adults alike were thrilled to try out the stilts and hoops in the flow zone and we were very impressed with the stilt dancers in our music area. Having children in your troupe offers a good way for other kids to engage with the props and not feel intimidated. Thanks so much for being part of our special night!" — Kerri Orser, South Wellington Elementary School PAC

Perseverance and Success

I would like to thank Vesta entertainment for working with my students. The 10 week program was exciting and the performers/ teachers were excellent. The students enjoyed their time and their experience. One student told me that he was very nervous about the final performance and wanted out but decided to participate and when I spoke to him afterwards he was very proud of himself and very happy that he did participate. The joy on his face was a definite plus. In fact, the joy and thrill was very evident on all the students’ faces.

The students learned skills on how to use the poi balls, the hula hoop and how to create a short routine. The students developed personal confidence and growth performing in front of an audience. They also practiced their listening skills and responding positively and appropriately.

I integrated circus into the curriculum by including it into the physical education program. In movement skills the students were able to adjust speed, force, level, pathway and direction of two objects. They moved the hoop with their hands, legs and their body. The poi used both hands at the same time and at times in different directions. Some also used leadership skills when practicing their routines as they became the leader while others became leaders by performing solos and duos. In the dance curriculum they created movement sequences based on a given form such as hoop or poi. They performed in front of an audience who were the students, staff and visitors of the school as well as parents, family and friends.

I would recommend this program to other teachers. The specialist performers were very engaging with the students and they captured the students’ attention. The students would ask when the next time they were coming back. Thank you again for working with my students.

Sincerely,

Ann-Marie Brayden (Grade 4, Coal Tyee)
